About TRL
TRL (Touch Rugby League) is touch footy with kicking and bears the closest resemblance to Rugby League out of all the touch football codes. It was formed back in 2005 to give people the opportunity to participate in a game of touch football without being constrained by the strict and artificial rules of traditional touch footy and 'tag' codes. The primary distinction between TRL and traditional touch football is the fact that in TRL, you can kick the ball. This adds a completely new dimension to touch and creates a game which better represents rugby and rugby league. To date (25/08/10) there have been 9 seasons and the game has now been played by over 3800 different people spread across 345 different teams. TRL has both Men's and Mixed Divisions at several different venues throughout South East Queensland. It is the fastest growing Touch Football Code in Queensland. In addition, TRL launched in Sydney in November 2009 and Ipswich in June 2010. The Bondi Broncos took out the first ever Sydney TRL competition in emphatic fashion whilst the first Ipswich competition is currently in week 9 of competition. TRL will re-launch its Sydney competiton in November 2010. There are also certain teams that deserve special mention for having dominated their respective divisions over the years in Brisbane. In the Mens competitions, Crabs on a Plane, Glebe DR, and the Dare Devils have won on multiple occasions at their respective venues. In the Mixed competitions, Gone in a Flash, Balls Deep, Jive Turkeys and Gary's Gooches have been the standout performers. Season 1, 2010 Winners List
